Aishwarya Rai : in Raavan No Prompting
No Prompting for Ash in Raavan
The movie Raavan was made simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil and Ashwariya Rai who plays the heroine had to do the dialogues in both the languages. The movie was also shot in the worst conditions possible in the Kerala jungles. Ash says that she did not use any prompts and used to memorize all her dialogues. She says that prompting has never worked for her and they tried it in Raavan also. Ash was knee deep in water and a crew member was holding the placard behind the camera. As the shot started, Vikram is said to have entered the frame for doing his part and totally covered the placard from Ash's view. Secondly the waterfall was so loud that she could not hear any of the prompting. So that was the end of all types of prompting for Ash and she relied only on her memory to deliver the dialogues.
The much awaited Mani Ratnam's movie has Vikram playing her husband in the Hindi version and her tormentor in the Tamil version. In the Hindi version her husband in real life, Abhishek Bachchan plays the tormentor role. When Ash was asked who was the better Raavan she did not comment and side stepped the question.
Ash recalls that while working with Mani Ratnam all actors are reduced to learners and the seniority amongst them does not come into play. When she was asked whether she had put special effort in either versions; she replied that each version was equally important to her.
