Two upcoming Tollywood actresses Saira Banu, 23, and Jyothi, 28, were allegedly caught red-handed in a brothel at the posh Kundanbagh area in Hyderabad late on Sunday night. However, the police freed the duo treating them as “victims” in the organised flesh trade.

Police also arrested a girl from Uzbekistan, who was overstaying although her visa had expired. In all police arrested six persons on charges of running a prostitution racket. Saira, who hails from Mumbai, played the lead roles in few Telugu films and Jyothi is a small-time actress.

Saira contended that she was implicated in the case. “I was called by the manager of a prospective film for discussion for an hour around 11 pm. But suddenly the police raided the office around 11.30 pm, leaving me shocked,” she told the media after undergoing medical tests at Gandhi Hospital.

Barely four days ago, City Police Commissioner A K Khan had come up with startling revelations that several Tollywood celebrities and businessmen were involved in a narcotics case.

Police have already arrested the two brothers of famous hero Ravi Teja, while they were allegedly buying cocaine from a Nigerian.

This latest exposΓ© is a further blow to the film industry in the south. In 2009, another actress Seema was arrested during a raid at Tarnaka, another posh area.

Panjagutta Police Inspector Ashok Chakravarthy, who named Juvvadi Raju, a B-grade film producer, and his associate N Neelamani as the main organisers of the flesh trade ring, said, cases were registered against them under sections of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

According to police, the organisers were charging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 per night from customers.

The Nampally Court discharged Saira Banu and Jyothi treating them as victims and directed the police to free them.

The court remanded the Uzbekistan girl and five others to judicial custody till September 3.
