Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Dabangg is one of the most anticipated films of this year. It marks the debut of Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter and is Salman’s brother Arbaaz’s first production as well. And the Khans have chosen musical duo Sajid-Wajid to churn out music for this big film.
The album begins with a lovely romantic song ‘Tere Mast Do Nain’ which has a sufi feel to it. While the song may not initially work for the listener, but a few listens and you will have it on repeat. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghosal do wonders on the vocals and the song is such a treat to listen to. There is also a remix version of the song but our vote lies solely with the original version of the song.
The next song is a typical item number that continues to rock in Bollywood. ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’, composed by Lalit Pandit, is doing exceptionally well at the charts, and add to it the saucy video with Malaika Arora Khan and you have a winner! Mamta Singh and Aishwarya are the voices behind this catchy number and the absolutely hilarious lyrics are by Jalees Sherwani.
Once again the tempo falls and the next song is all mushy and romantic. Sonu Niigaam and Shreya Ghosal croon to ‘Chori Kiya Re Jiya’ which is all about falling in love. But despite having two huge powerhouses on the vocals, the song fails to make any impact.
The next track is ‘Hud Hud Dabangg’ sung by Sukhwinder Singh. It’s rough, hard and yet soulfull. Every Vishal Bhardwaj film has at least one of these kind of songs. Definitely a strong track.
‘Hamka Peeni Hai’ brings composer Wajid on the vocals along with Master Saleem. The song is a fun light number and one can picturise Salman having fun with it on-screen. And the remix version is a lot of fun too!
The final track on the album is the theme to Dabangg. With some fantastic arrangements coupled with Salman’s dialogues, the song works on every level.
Overall, the album is a fun piece of music. It is no wonder then that Salman turns to Sajid-Wajid to give him some fantastic music time and again as they are perfectly able to capture the star’s on-screen charisma. . . . . . . . . .Play Dabang Songs here. . . . . . . . . .
